CAUTION
The standard recommendation for handling small
instruments intra-orally is to tie a 20 cm long cord
(Dental Floss) around the device, ensure to fix it
firmly in place and position the patient in such a way
that, should the scan post be dropped, it will not fall
into the patient’s respiratory or digestive tract. In
the case of the scan post being dropped, it can be
securely retrieved using the cord to pull it out.
CAUTION
To avoid aspiration or swallowing despite all above
preventive measures, dental suction equipment
can be used for recovering a dropped device. In
case of swallowing or inhaling the scan post, follow
standard procedures and contact the nearest
medical facility.
STEP 4: UNMOUNTING THE SCAN POST
Unmount the Scan Post by grasping it tightly in a secure pinch
grip between thumb and index finger retracting it from the model
in a linear motion.
If the scan post has wedged itself and is difficult to remove the
situation can be mitigated by introducing a slight momentum
(rotate).
WARNING
Avoid applying excessive torque to scan post
during retraction as this may cause unnecessary
deformation or even break the Scan Post.
WARNING
It is not recommended to use tools during the
mounting, retraction or dislodging as this may
cause damage, deformation or even break the Scan
Post.
WARNING
Use dental suction to collect blood and saliva during
dental procedures.
CAUTION
To avoid aspiration or swallowing despite all above
preventive measures, dental suction equipment
can be used for recovering a dropped device. In
case of swallowing or inhaling the scan post, follow
standard procedures and contact the nearest
medical facility.
STEP 5: CLEANING AND STORAGE
Following use, the scan posts must be cleaned prior to storage.
Cleaning procedure
• Clean the scan posts by rinsing with clean, preferably purified,
water until dust or debris is removed.
• Fully immerse in a non-enzymatic neutral pH detergent, e.g.,
Intercept™ and brush the scan post with a soft bristle brush for
1 minute.
• Rinse with clean, preferably purified, water for min. 2 minutes
• Dry the articles with a clean lint-free cloth
• Store in appropriate container.
WARNING
The scan posts must be thoroughly cleaned
immediately after use.
USE WITH IMPRESSIONS AND MODELS
STEP 1: TAKING THE IMPRESSION
Choose a proper impression post that matches the system and
diameter of the used drill. Also choose an appropriate length of
the impression post. Insert the impression post into the patient’s
root canal(s). Take a regular impression. If the impression post is
retained in the mouth, remove it.
CAUTION
The Impression Post (not CMT) instruction for use
should be observed for this step.
CAUTION
Always have an assistant in place with suction
equipment ready for use. In case of swallowing
or inhaling of devices or debris follow standard
procedures and contact the nearest medical facility.
STEP 2: MODEL CASTING
Make sure the impression post is in the impression, and then cast
the model.
Remove the impression post from the model and replace it with
an equivalent scan post (same length and diameter). The “head”
of the post (the cylindrical body) may not be in contact with
neighboring teeth on the model or other scan posts as this can
cause bending
CAUTION
Impression material (not CMT) instruction for use
should be observed for this step.
CAUTION
Each Scan Post contains markings indicating the
corresponding Post & Core systems, diameter, and
length variant.
CAUTION
To avoid damage to the post and ensure that correct
scan data is obtained, it is recommended that an in-
depth knowledge of preferred systems is obtained
prior to use.
WARNING
Replace the Scan Post if any damage, i.e., scratches,
deformation, excessive wear, etc., is determined.
STEP 3: SCANNING WITH THE SCAN POST IN PLACE
Scan the model following the scanner’s instructions for use. Make
sure the head of the scan posts are scanned fully and without
holes, both top and sides.
CAUTION
Ensure that the scan post has a secure fit and is
seated correctly prior to scanning.
CAUTION
Evaluate the quality of the Scan prior to removing
the Scan Post.
STEP 4: UNMOUNTING THE SCAN POST
Unmount the Scan Post by grasping it tightly in a secure pinch
grip between thumb and index finger retracting it from the model
in a linear motion.
