Congratulations on your new CoreMedTech product.

INTENDED USE

Scan bodies are used to capture the location, angulation and

connection orientation of dental implants in a patient’s mouth.

For intra-oral use, the scan bodies are mounted directly on

the patient’s implant and scanned (captured) with an intraoral

scanner.

The scan bodies can also be used in gypsum models. For model

use, the scan bodies are mounted on an implant analog and

scanned with a laboratory scanner.

IN PATIENT USE – STEP BY STEP

STEP 1: SELECTION OF THE SCAN BODY

Select the scan body that matches the implant system and

platform.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Each scan body/screwdriver contains human-

readable markings with a code indicating the

corresponding implant platform and system. The

screwdrivers contain a 2-character system-specific

alphanumeric code, and the scan bodies have an

additional 3rd character referring to the connection

platform.

CAUTION

To avoid damage to the implant and ensure that

correct scan data is obtained, it is recommended

that an in-depth knowledge of preferred systems is

obtained enabling a quick confirmation of both the

connection and the screwdriver.

WARNING

Replace the scan body if any damage, i.e. scratches,

deformation, excessive wear, etc., is detected on

either the scan body or the system screwdriver.

STEP 2: PREPARATION FOR INTRA-ORAL USE

To avoid cross-contamination between patients or contamination

of operators, the scan bodies and the associated screwdriver

must be cleaned and sterilized prior to each use.

Prior to use, the cleaned scan bodies and associated screwdrivers

must be autoclaved at 121°C for 15 min, or at 134°C for 3 min.

After autoclaving, let the scan bodies and associated screwdrivers

cool to room temperature. If still hot, skin contact with either

the scan bodies or the screwdrivers may cause discomfort to

the patient. The scan bodies must not be warmer than body

temperature.

WARNING

Replace the scan body if any damage (scratches,

deformation, excessive wear, etc.) is detected on

either the scan body or the system screwdriver.

WARNING

The sterile barrier must be maintained until use!

STEP 3: MOUNTING THE SCAN BODY ON THE IMPLANT IN

THE PATIENT’S MOUTH

Place the scan body on a clean implant and rotate until the

interface locks and no further rotational movement is possible.

Use the screwdriver to fix the screw finger-tight.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

To avoid damage and unnecessary wear, the

recommended mounting torque is 5 N·cm.

CAUTION

The screwdriver does not have torque limitation!

CAUTION

To avoid damage to the scan body connection and

screw, avoid exceeding the recommended mounting

torque. In case of unintended damage to the scan

body, screw or screwdriver making it impossible to

remove the items, follow standard procedures and

contact the nearest medical facility.

WARNING

To avoid aspiration or swallowing of the scan body

during intra-oral scanning, ensure that the scan

body matches the implant system and platform

and that the screw is tightened. The scan body’s

ID (identifying the implant system and platform)

is labeled on the head section. The standard

recommendation for handling small accessories

intra-orally is to tie a 20 cm long cord (Dental Floss)

around the scan body. Once the scan body is in the

correct position and tightened, the cord can be

removed. Reverse the order of handling for safe

removal. Furthermore, position the patient in such a

way that, should the scan body be dropped or come

loose nevertheless, it will not fall into the patient’s

respiratory or digestive tract. In the case of the scan

body being dropped, it can be securely retrieved

using the cord to pull it out.

WARNING

The standard recommendation for handling small

instruments intra-orally is to tie a 20 cm long cord

(Dental Floss) around the screwdriver. To avoid

aspiration or swallowing of the screwdriver during

mounting/unmounting the scan body, ensure to

hold it firmly and position the patient in such a way

that, should the screwdriver be dropped, it will not

fall into the patient’s respiratory or digestive tract.

In the case of the screwdriver being dropped, it can

be securely retrieved using the cord to pull it out.

WARNING

To avoid aspiration or swallowing despite all above

preventive measures, always have an assistant

in place with suction equipment ready for use. In

case of swallowing of the scan body or screwdriver,

follow standard procedures and contact the nearest

medical facility.
